Flawed - On Bell FibeTV with Spencer Barbosa
I recently had the incredible opportunity to appear on the new show Flawed, hosted by the amazing Spencer Barbosa and produced by MAKERS. My episode airs April 24th on Bell Fibe TV and the Fibe TV App, and I can’t wait for you to see it!
The show is all about celebrating the things we’re told to hide, the parts of ourselves that don’t always fit the mold — and in my case, that meant sharing my story of choosing aesthetic flat closure after breast cancer. Society often tells breast cancer survivors that reconstructive surgery is the “natural next step,” the expected path to reclaiming an "acceptable silhouette." But what if that version of “recovery” doesn’t feel right?
At 33, I made the decision to go flat after a double mastectomy, and 3 failed reconstruction complications. And while it hasn’t always been easy, I’ve come to feel empowered by my choice. Still, being on national TV and lingerie shopping with over 16 inches of chest scars was a big leap.
During the episode, I was mentored by the wise and wonderful Leisse Wilcox, and challenged myself to pick out a lingerie piece at Timeless Beauty Lingerie in Dundas, Ontario — not to cover myself up, but to embrace my Aesthetic Flat Closure. The goal wasn’t to look a certain way, but to feel confident, feminine, and beautiful in my body exactly as it is.
Flawed isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up as your whole self — scars, insecurities, triumphs and all. I’m beyond proud to have shared my story in this way, and I hope that by watching, others feel inspired to question the narratives we’ve been given about what “healing” or “beauty” should look like.
Please tune in on April 24th on Bell Fibe TV and the Fibe TV App to watch my episode and meet the other incredible humans featured in this heart-opening series. I hope it’ll move you to widen your idea of beauty❤️
